The exams had to be shifted. A visitor was being expected. Students taking their 2nd semester exams in the departments under the College of Medicine and those in other faculties of the Elele campus of the Madonna University, were affected.
To the waiting crowd of students and lecturers and Professors, the UNICEF Country representative, Her Excellency, Dr Jean Dau and her team in company of the Father Chancellor of the Madonna University, who is also the Founder of The Madonna International Charity Peace Awards (MICPA) Foundation , Very Rev Fr Prof EMP Edeh were ushered in. Also with them was the Chairman of MICPA, Hon Dubem Onyia.
Fr Edeh, at the ceremony, on behalf of the MICPA Foundation, presented a cheque of $100,000 to Dr Jean, to support the rescue efforts of victims of the Boko Haram menace in the affected states of Adamawa, Bornu and Yobe.
He also announced university education scholarship to 10 Girls from the affected states. The university education would be in any government university of their choosing. Father Emmanuel Matthew Paul Edeh, also announced that the MICPA Foundation is set to provide counselling services – psychological counselling and psychosocial support.
The UNICEF Nigeria Representative, Dr Dau was grateful to the foundation for the donation to support efforts in the North East of Nigeria. She also made some shocking revelations..
She said, Fr Edeh is the First individual Nigerian to make a donation to the North East, through UNICEF, to support efforts going on in the Boko Haram ravaged North East section of Nigeria. And since UNICEF Nigeria happens to be the largest ongoing operation in the world at the moment, the entire UNICEF organisation is ever grateful to the MICPA Foundation and to Fr Edeh for the generous contribution.
Also in a press release statement, Fr Prof Edeh, announced his readiness, to meet with Boko Haram or its representatives, to mediate in efforts to secure the release of the Chibok Girls through the application of his Peace Charity Model.
It is hoped that the efforts of the day would yield a deserving and longstanding outcome.
