I got an anonymous email earlier today from a secondary school student; he still calls himself a secondary school student since he still attends afternoon lessons for JAMB examination. He wanted to know about the institutions in Nigeria offering Dentistry as an undergraduate course in school. I referred him to the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN Site.
I found this; the number of government approved universities legitimately offering that course as an undergraduate course are 7.
Like Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry is so sought after by unsuspecting applicants, that fraudsters play on this desperation to the detriment of the students.
With the proliferation of unapproved institutions claiming to be offering Dentistry, I hope this will help. I found this table on the MDCN official site. It shows institutions with full accreditation and those with a partial accreditation. The MDCN regulates the activities of the activities of doctors and dentists alike in the country.
Now you know!!!
