Following the official declaration of the President of Nigeria Muhammad Buhari on the easing of the lockdown in Lagos, Ogun, and Abuja, many people are tapping into the vibes emitted from the country’s leadership – which is wearing Facemasks.
Before the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention officially announced her Guidelines for Use of Clothe Face mask, many Nigerians were skeptical about the use of cloth face masks when they step out into the street.
Then the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control put out a statement encouraging people to get a face mask and wear a face mask anytime one is outside their home.
It started off with key government officials wearing the cloth face masks with some touch of style. People watched and loved the style shown by the Lagos State Governor and the Cross Rivers State Governor.
Why Nigerians Love A Trendy Cloth Face Mask.
It is a fact that many Nigerians have accepted the use of a facemask because many understand its usefulness in the COVID19 pandemic.
Nigerians are encouraged to use cloth face coverings as recommended and not surgical masks or N-95 respirators. These are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders, as recommended by current CDC guidance.
It is recommended that while wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., malls, stores, markets, and pharmacies) especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.
Nigerians are highly fashionable people. With a wide range of textile that remains accessible and available to cloth facemask producers, I am confident that many Nigerians would march through the pandemic kitted in the trendiest cloth facemask.
