This week on Social Media Voce, we recognize the far reaching impact health conferences and seminars have in any society. Nigeria is having a deluge of health conferences and one of such major conferences was the Dubai-Africa Partnership for Better Health Road Show…
Well, this is just to share a little about the Better Health Road Show…
Hash tagged #DubaiAfricaHealth on social media, the conference availed attendees the opportunity to network, connect and meet new clients.
Lagos Is In Total Chaotic Lock-Down… The Health Implications:
The situation is deteriorating. It started as a small problem, with no health implications, but it have grown into a hydra-headed monster affecting all sectors in Lagos state.
Nobody is spared. Office workers, students, market traders, and even home-based entrepreneurs are feeling the brunt of this man precipitated chaos.
This twitter user puts it in his words;
Dusts and damaging noise, among other social menaces, are now part of daily experience of residents, who seem to be getting ‘addicted’ to these unusually elevated levels of social menaces.
Exhaust fumes from countless numbers of petrol trailers, trucks and smaller vehicles fill the roads. With high volume of toxic gases including carbondioxide fumes, hydrogen sulphide etc in the atmosphere, it is only short of a death wish for anybody to be left to swim in this gaseous chaos everyday.
It is my opinion that every road user in Lagos needs mental health evaluation. A lot of daily post-traumatic stress disorders are experienced on the road.
Most Lagosians decided to be vocal against the state Governor, and even the Federal Government, whom many believe is simply overwhelmed by the whole ‘mess’.
The Apapa axis of Lagos, home to Nigeria’s busiest sea port, needs the kiss of the dragon to be whole again.
Then the Federal Government intervened with its full might and authority.
Vice President of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo delivered the directive, mandating security operatives to commence evacuation of all the road health hazards, called trailers and trucks, parked for months on major highways, back into private bonded terminals.
We recognize that the Lagos state government attempted to salvage the situation, but was fruitless.
It took a major public outcry for the Federal Government to step up to her responsibility. Well, better late than never.
NIGERIA GETS NEW NATIONAL CARRIER.
It has been a flurry of activities at the Ministry of Transport & Aviation.
Nigeria has announced it is set to have her own National carrier, even with about four months to the elections. Despite this obvious jinx, we rejoice and celebrate with the government for at last doing the needful.
Here are some things you should know about Nigeria Air;
Nigerians had a lot to say about this…
Some tweeps express delight, others disdain while some “think the design is outright ugly”;
And then the skeptics took over the time-line…
