Today, Owerri, the capital of Imo state, played host to the Nigerian Chapter of the West African College of Physicians. The 4-Day event is lined up to impact, positively, on the attending Physicians.
The Governor of Imo state was to be in attendance at today’s opening session, but for matters of State, he was away. So, rather than disappoint this eminent College, he drafted the Secretary to Imo State Government, Sir Jude Ejiogu.
Among other things said, he announced the project that the present state government is working on, with some “already about 90% completed”.
Gov Okorocha said,”About 27 General Hospitals are almost complete, with some awaiting equipment installations”. He said already “the Health At Your Door Step” initiative is already in progress. Another key project he said the government has undertaken is the “Ochie-Dike Diagnostics and Renal Center”.
He wished the conference a fruitful deliberation as he promised to send Doctors at the state Ministry of Health to get schooled by the conference.
The conference is expected to continue tomorrow!!!
