I always love to hear new discoveries. This discovery is on the new inhalable Ebola Vaccine. Ebola Virus Disease have been killing tens of thousands of people especially in West Africa Subregion.
Researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), Galveston discovered this aerosolized therapy for the disease. The aerosol drug can be given for treatment and even prevention of the Ebola Virus Disease.
It can even be administered by non professionals, especially in regions where there are no health care workers or facilities.
“A single-dose aerosol vaccine would enable both prevention and containment of Ebola infections, in a natural outbreak setting where health care infrastructure is lacking or during bioterrorism and biological warfare scenarios,” he added.
“A needle-free, inhalable vaccine against Ebola presents certain advantages. Immunization will not require trained medical personnel,” Michelle Meyer, a postdoctoral fellow in the pathology department at the UTMB further stated.
The new drug is currently on phase 1 trial to see if the drug would be safe on humans.
